The Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country bordered by Kenya on the east, Sudan on the north, DR Congo on the west, Rwanda on the south-west and Tanzania on the south. It has a population of some 28,000,000 speaking over forty languages. Although its economy was decimated during the presidency of Idi Amin great progress has has made in recent years and Uganda has been hailed as a success story in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Famed as the source of the Nile, it has substantial natural resources at its disposal including untapped reserves of crude oil and natural gas.
